Requirements for admission to our public health program include:
- Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative grade average of a B or better.

Submission of a professional statement that discusses significant factors influencing your decision to pursue a Master in Public Health degree. Your essay should include information regarding career goals and current and/or prior leadership experiences that will contribute to your success as a graduate student and in the public health profession. Please include why the Brown School is a good fit for your educational goals.

Completion of an essay that analyzes a public health issue of great concern to you. Include key factors contributing to the health issue, plausible solution(s), possible steps for implementation and challenges likely to surface in seeking a solution. Please indicate how a Masters degree in Public Health will aid in this process.

A comprehensive resume.
- Three letters of recommendation from professional and/or academic colleagues.
- Graduate Record Examination scores (GRE). In lieu of the GRE, we also accept the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), and the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). Scores must be less than five years old. Currently, we have no minimum score requirement. Current Brown School MSW students must also supply a GRE, GMAT, MCAT, or LSAT score that is less than five years old. The Brown School GRE code is 3867.
- A non-refundable application fee of $60 if you apply by paper, or $40 if you apply online.
- We automatically waive the application fee for Native American students, as well as current members or alumni from the following service corps: Teach for America, Coro Fellows, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and JVC.
Applicants to our MPH program can enter in the fall semester. Our admissions process is rolling and we do not have an application deadline. We suggest that you complete all application materials by the deadlines below to ensure that you receive priority consideration for scholarships.
Priority deadlines for scholarships:
- December 15 for fall early decisions
- March 1 for all other fall decisions
