Bio:

Dr. Pandey has examined policies and programs that affect some of the most vulnerable populations within and outside of the United States.

In the United States, she recently completed two longitudinal studies examining the effect of welfare reform policy changes on some of the most marginalized families-- one on American Indian reservations and the other in rural counties of Missouri.

Outside the United States, Dr. Pandey has launched two important studies in Nepal-- one examining use of improved smokeless stoves by rural women and the other examining the role of assets on health and economic wellbeing of women in Kathmandu.

In the mid 1990s, Dr. Pandey led a team to evaluate rural populations’ access to and utilization of primary health care services in northern India.  In 2002, Dr. Pandey trained social work faculty in Mongolia on action research.  In 2006, she delivered lectures at Kazakhstan National University.

Her research has been funded by grants from the Department of Health and Human Services, US department of Agriculture, and the MacArthur Foundation.

At the Brown School, she coordinates the research specialization, teaches research seminar and social welfare policy courses to MSW students and multivariate statistics to doctoral students.
