Jennifer Bellamy completed her Ph.D. at the Columbia University School of Social Work in 2006 where she was an NIMH mental health services research predoctoral fellow. She completed her Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000.

Jennifer Bellamy’s research interests primarily include mental health services in the context of child welfare and evidence based practice. Her current work is focused on the study of outpatient mental health service use and outcomes for children who have experienced long term foster care based on data drawn from the National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-being (NSCAW). She is also currently studying university-agency partnerships as a vehicle for increasing the use of evidence based practice in social service agencies.

Her prior work has included projects related to young unmarried fathers’ parenting and mental health, both as a statewide coordinator for a 11-site demonstration project in Texas, and through research based on the National Fragile Families and Child Well-being study. She also has direct practice experience as a crisis counselor and a nursing home therapist.
