Description

As an expansion of the Women's Wellness Initiative of Missouri Bootheel Healthy Start, the "Wellness Link" project will provide a preventative psychoeducational intervention to pregnant & preconceptual women living in the Missouri Bootheel region. A curriculum based on NIMH depression awareness along with a guided activity to help women develop stress management techniques & minimize stressful life events during and around pregnancy will be used by staff of three collaborating community agencies, along with the Women's Wellness Initiative. The Women's Wellness Initiative will provide training, ongoing guidance, and program evaluation for the collaborative project. Women identified through this community outreach and psychoeducation who are in need of mental health services can receive assistance in accessing those services through direct connection with the existing "Women's Wellness" program.
