William C. Sullivan, a professor in the department of landscape architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, visited the Brown School to give a talk sponsored by the School’s Environmental Social Work Initiative.
 

In his lecture, Dr. Sullivan summarizes his several years of research conducted in Chicago housing projects on how green space influences social interactions, childhood attention and impulse control, levels of domestic violence, and urban crime.

Sullivan earned his doctorate in natural resources, with a concentration in environment and behavior, at the University of Michigan. He has taught environmental design at Kansas State University and at Michigan, as well as at Illinois.
